If you're planning a party (or just want an amazing drink for your Netflix & Chill) and want an easy crowd-pleaser, this is it. What I love about this citrusy cocktail is that it's also easy to create as a pitcher to last longer--win, win!For this drink and really every Tequila drink I craft, I use Camarena Silver Tequila. It is one of the smoothest agave tequilas on the market and affordable! The typical size bottle you find is about $24.99, can't beat that.If you end up making this, let me know--the world deserves to know about this drink.

Note: I like to use the flexible, silicone Peak ice cube trays because they offer both baby ice cubes and large!

Spicy Grapefruit Margarita

The Perfect Kick to Your Summer Cocktail Party!

Grapefruit Mixture

  • 4 slices Jalapeno (Sliced off ends of 2 full jalapeno used for Jalepeno Simple Syrup)

  • ½ fresh Grapefruit (squeezed)

  • 2 full Limes (sliced)

  • 1 TBL Jalapeno Simple Syrup

Liquor

  • 3 shots Silver Agave Tequila (*I prefer Camarena)

  • 1 ½ shots Triple Sec (Can use Cointreau, Triple Sec is cheaper.)

Jalapeno Simple Syrup

  • 2 whole Jalapenos

  • 1 ½ cup white granulated sugar

  • 1 ½ cup water

Jalapeno Simple Syrup (Make this first and allow 15 min. to cool)

  1. Slice off top of jalapeno and half vertically from top to bottom

  2. Cut out membrane (white part) and peel out seeds, discard. Take out a majority of the seeds (leave behind a few, depending on the amount of spice you can handle)

  3. Repeat on second pepper; you will now have 4 halves--set aside

  4. In a medium saucepan, combine water and sugar on medium heat

  5. Stir mixture until clear and add pepper halves, stir

  6. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally

  7. Remove from heat and discard peppers

  8. Pour Jalapeno simple syrup into a refrigerator safe container to cool for 15 minutes

Recipe

  1. Add slices of Jalapeno, grapefruit juice and lime juice to shaker

  2. Pour Jalapeno Simple Syrup into shaker

  3. Muddle ingredients for 1 minute

  4. Add Tequila & Triple Sec

  5. Add 3 pieces of ice & shake (what yo' mama gave ya!)

  6. Rim glass with sugar or salt, add ice and divide drink between the two

  7. Garnish with Jalepeno & Grapefruit slices -- CHEERS!
